Welcome
CSI
is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public benefit corporation, which provides
childcare and related family services throughout Monterey County in
California. CSI began servicing young children in 1973 with two
employees working in a Quonset hut classroom on the grounds of a local
church in Salinas, CA. Over the last thirty-three years CSI has opened
multiple child development centers throughout the County. CSI currently
has seven centers throughout the county in Pajaro, Salinas, Marina,
Greenfield, Gonzales and our newest migrant worker childcare facility in
Soledad. CSI’s mission directly impacts the health, education and
welfare of children throughout all of Monterey County.
CSI
provides an array of services for families with young children. These
services are intended to empower parents, to foster effective parenting,
and to ensure that the needs of young children are met. The primary
purpose of our organization is to provide child care services for
children whose parents are working or who are engaged in study or
training programs leading to a recognized vocation or profession, and to
provide care for children who have been the victims of or who are at
risk of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation or who are homeless. Other
services include information and referral, parent education, assistance
in meeting other basic family needs, consultant services provided on a
global basis to expand and improve services for young children, and
training for child care providers.
CSI has had over
thirty-three years experience in providing an array of programs for
homeless and low-income children and their families in Monterey County.
In 2005, CSI served 2,500 families daily. CSI administers the
Alternative Payment Program (APP), which subsidizes childcare with some
600 providers of the parent(s) choice throughout the County.
